About Fell Croft Cottage

Fellcroft Cottage, an 18th century terraced cottage has been operating as a self catering rental property since 2003 and has successfully achieved a 4 star rating from Cumbria Tourist Board year on year.

The cottage sleeps 6 people, in three bedrooms, two double and one twin, it has a large lounge/dining room, modern fitted kitchen, good size family bathroom, small sitting room and enclosed patio.

Situated in Backbarrow, a quiet South Lakeland Village, the cottage is ideally located between the mountain fells of the Lake District and the shores of Morecambe Bay and only 1.1/2 miles from the foot of Lake Windermere. It is the perfect base for a touring or walking holiday of the Lake District. Public footpaths, bridleways and quiet country roads allow visitors to walk or cycle the local area and fells relatively undisturbed.

This peaceful area of the South Lakes is rich in heritage and traditions, yet remains relatively unaffected by the influx of tourists that can crowd the more central parts of the Lake District. The whole area offers a wealth of tourist attractions.

Three of Cumbrias' top visitor attractions are within a 5-minute drive, the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, Windermere Cruise Ships and Aquarium of the Lakes. Within 20 miles there are at least 32 places of interest listed by the English Tourist Board.

The Accommodation

The cottage is fully centrally heated and is decorated to a high standard with good quality furnishings and fittings yet maintains that "Home from Home" feeling ensuring all our guests, couples, groups and families alike are comfortable with their surroundings.

Large living/dining room with plenty of comfortable seating a full size dining table, built in log burning stove, LCD Digital TV, DVD player, CD Player/Radio and a supply of DVD's, CD's, books & games to keep you entertained.

A well-equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, oven/ceramic hob, microwave and all the cooking equipment you'll need should you feel the urge to make a full family meal.

The bathroom is a good size with electric shower over a full size bath. There is no need to bring towels, we provide one bath and one hand towel for each of our guests.

Half way up the stairs there is a small sitting room with an additional LCD Digital TV - Patio Doors lead onto a small enclosed patio area.

There are three good size bedrooms two doubles and one twin room. All with top quality microfibre duvets, king size on the double beds and double size on the singles, to ensure a cosy nights sleep. All beds are made up ready for your arrival.

The bedrooms to the front of the property have views across the valley towards the tree lined 'Heights' and the steam trains wending their way to Lakeside, the bedroom at the rear looks out over the fell behind the cottage.
